Stakeholders proclaim the failure of solar panel policy
ISLAMABAD: According to the private sector stakeholders the new policy of the government about solar panels was bound to fail. They told the reasons are that the government is preferring the import of solar panels as opposed to local manufacturing. As the duty-free import of solar panels has been allowed by the government but a 17 percent tax has been imposed on the raw material and components.
According to Tesla Solar CEO Mohammad Amir buying raw material from China with such heavy taxes become costlier while the finished product is cheaper.
